The Friends of Sherburne have created a Natures Calendar guide to what may be found at Sherburne NWR throughout the months of the year. Every week in every season brings a change in habitat, whether it is plants and trees in bloom, water level changes due to rain or management practices, grasses and sedges in the prairie, or resident and migrating waterfowl, insects, and mammals. These hard copy Phenology guides can be found at refuge headquarters during normal business hours or at kiosks in parking areas found around the refuge.
Here is a small sampling of visual sights you may see during the various months of the year. Stop by often and discover your own favorite time of year to hike, canoe, bike or just drive and enjoy the roads of Sherburne NWR.
